Strategic Educational Services, LLC was founded by Michelle McDonald, a Washington certified educator and curriculum designer. Michelle has a passion for helping students break through barriers, find confidence, and build a love of learning. As one who understands the struggle and feeling of failure, Michelle was challenged in elementary and was retained in 5th grade. But therefore, she also personally understands the break-through moments that are just around the bend. Michelle is a patient individual who strives to meet the unique learning style and needs of each student that crosses her path.

Grade Level & Benchmark Assessments:
At SES we offer grade level, subject, and content specific based benchmark assessments. Our assessments are comprehensive, but not cumbersome. Our goal is to determine areas of mastery and areas of specific development. Using this data, we create a strategic plan that fits with your child’s unique learning style.
Standardized Test Proctoring:
We are qualified to administer standardized tests, and provide a variety of options such as the SAT, TerraNova, or IOWA E, to name a few. This is a great option for home school families, as we can administer all grades K-12 in the comfort of your own home. We will also go over all the data with you and help you strategize a curriculum that will best meet your child’s individual needs.
Remediation & Intervention:
Studies show that early intervention is key to a child’s success. In fact, when intervention is delayed, it takes four times as long to intervene in fourth grade as it does in late kindergarten because of brain development and increased content for students to learn (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development).
We are here to help. At SES, we assess your child for specific skills, and work with you and your child’s teacher to develop a strategic plan that meets your child’s learning style and needs.
We are not a paper-pushing, one size fits all, educational service. We are intentional about meeting the unique learning style of each child. Games, interactive activities, songs, and hands-on learning are some of the things that set Strategic Educational Services apart from large corporation programs.
In addition, we specialize in dyslexia reading and spelling intervention (see below).
One-on-one instruction is not just for those that need a little educational boost. Many students love to get ahead or take on a challenge. At SES, we offer individualized instruction for students that are seeking to go deeper in a particular subject or content area.
As you may have discovered, public schools do not recognize dyslexia as a learning disability, which means that your child may not be receiving 504 or IEP services. Many teachers have not received specific dyslexia training, and it may seem as though your child is making little to no progress in reading, spelling or writing.
No matter the grade level, or whether your child has been specifically diagnosed or you simply suspect he or she may have dyslexia, we can help.
At SES, we offer intense intervention for children, teenagers, and adults who struggle with reading, spelling or writing. The Barton Reading & Spelling System is a Structured Literacy program that is Orton-Gillingham influenced. Our multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential intense intervention program is research and evidence based.
